Leaves are deceptive. What appears to be a fun, fall project always takes more time then expected. I had a vision of raking the yard while the kids took some downtime. I planned to leave a couple large piles for them to jump and play in. But when the kids decided to “help” earlier than expected, combined with increased wind speeds, my anticipated 2 hour project took all afternoon. The kids took turns raking, jumping in the leaves, and “hiding”…while I attempted to bag as much as possible. Though I had to periodically pause to reassure the kids I wasn’t going to bag them all or ruin their piles, we ended up with about 30 bags before the dark set in. The kids were good and tired, but there were still some left on the lawn. All-in-all, we had a great time playing in the fall leaves.
